Also called “Punk Rock”, it recalls the forgotten past of “Punk Ellen”, the nickname given to the port on the island of Islay in the 1970s.
A great innovation in the world of peated Single Malts:
This Single Malt is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels, resulting from the distillation of a black malt: the cereal is heated to a very high temperature so that the malt becomes roasted, similar to the process carried out with coffee beans or of cocoa. A delicate drying operation: if the temperature exceeds 250°C, the malt can turn into charcoal and catch fire.
This mastery reveals all its crunch with notes of intense cocoa which find their balance amid notes of charcoal and smoke. A fiery, spicy style that will amaze you.
On the nose: Spicy, with notes of toasted toast and coffee, complemented by black chicory. The typical herbaceous profile of Ardbeg complements the smoky notes of campfire and molasses.
In the mouth: Intensely spicy flavors, moving towards a richer and more smoky profile. Cocoa powder and dark chocolate combine with flavors of caramel, lime and peanuts. What follows notes of soot and embers. A biscuity appearance with anise and malt will tickle your taste buds. A sweet finish will soften your palate, lingering on the caramel. A great smoky freshness will mingle with his breathing.
